There has been considerable discussion recently about the concept of loyalty. The more important question, however, is not whether loyalty exists, but where it is directed.
Loyalty to a political party or a personality is temporary and situational. Loyalty to the Constitution and to enduring principles is foundational. In a constitutional republic, our highest allegiance should be to the rule of law and the principles that safeguard liberty—not to individuals or party labels.
